WHAT THIS PIECE IS ABOUT: The companion piece to A Great Deal of Courage. The majority of this work was created using the technique of cyanotype. A chemical preparation is made in the dark, then left to dry. Once this happens, objects are placed on the surface and left out in the sun to "develop": the exposed ink is turned blue through light oxidation, and the shadows cast by the objects make the remaining ink washable. This piece reminds us to enjoy each step of the process and allow whimsy to hold our hand. Fun fact: the text faintly visible on the background comes from an 1800s spell book!
