Petrichor Mountain

In the Summer and Fall of 2021, Soledad was commissioned to create a massive-scale piece for Texas law firm McGinnis Lochridge.

After a two-month discovery process, during which Soledad met with the creative committee and executed a plan that included interviews and interactive activities with organic materials, and ephemera such as rare books and analog cameras, it was time to set brush to canvas. Using these opportunities to learn about the history and spirit of the firm, she created a composition that is both organic and dynamic, suited for the large, light-flooded space atop Austin's downtown.

The 6-panel custom built canvas piece was created over a period of three months in a private residence in Liberty Hill, TX.

The resulting piece is titled Petrichor Mountain, and utilizes transparent color and shape to tell a story of place, time, and people. Hidden beneath the layers are silk screens of texts vitally important to the client's history, playing hide and seek and enticing the viewer to come up and take a closer look.
